En vieillissant les hommes pleurent, par Jean-Luc Seigle
  • Nostalgique, metaphysique, belle
  • A beautiful ontological perspective about the simplicity of love and family.

Le "concept" du 11 septembre, Dialogues a New York avec Giovanna Borradori: Jacques Derrida et Jurgen Habermas
  • Interesting take on 9-11 from three perspectives.  The book is really about much more: terrorism, globalization, fear, national borders, 'events', deconstruction.  It is a helpful dialogue about thinking of one's place in the world order, either reflected in 9-11 or at least partially created by it.

La Faculte de Juger, par Derrida, Descombes, Kortian, Lacque-Labarthe, Lyotard, et Nancy
  • Includes Derrida's epic essay 'Devant la loi' (Before the Law) with a much longer introduction than the English translation.  Helpful book for looking at the intersection of law and literature as well as judgment and ontology.

The Fear Index, by Robert Harris
  • Suspenseful, sci-fi (but not over the top)
  • This mystery in Geneva brings up some great questions about computers, artificial intelligence, the economy, and one's own wealth.  It's also a fun mystery, but it could be developed at a deeper level, both in terms of plot and philosophy.
  • Thanks to Nat for the recommendation.
